The Finance Desk (FD) support group provides technical and business support for Citi’s global Finance Desk, with teams located in Belfast, Shanghai, India and Mississauga.
The Role
We are searching for a highly motivated and enthusiastic person who will work as part of the Finance Desk support team based in Belfast.
The role involves partnering with the business that runs the application production platform, providing quick resolutions to issues, and driving stability, efficiency and effectiveness improvements to help our business succeed.
You will have the opportunity to develop knowledge of financial markets and work closely with other technology partners globally.
You will help to drive and track projects around stability and service improvement, incident resolution and follow‑up activities and provide strategic technical solutions.
You will also manage projects implementing and maintaining automated tools and monitoring solutions used by the Support team.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide user and batch support for the trade booking application “Finance Workstation”, “Positions” and Risk application.
- Perform start‑of‑day checks and continuous monitoring of the application and underlying infrastructure.
- Raise problems to appropriate technology and business teams while adhering to Service Level Agreements.
- Develop and maintain technical support documentation.
- Act as a liaison between users/traders, interfacing with internal technology groups and vendors.
- Participate in application releases, testing and deployment into production.
- Perform post‑release checkouts after application releases and infrastructure updates.
- Take active involvement in and ownership of Support Project items covering Stability, Efficiency and Effectiveness initiatives.

- Expand your skillset in established technologies such as TIBCO EMS, Oracle, Unix/Linux.
- Knowledge / Experience
- Working knowledge of Sybase SQL (able to build ad‑hoc queries).
- Working knowledge of Unix (Solaris/Linux) and core administration functions.
- Basic business knowledge or understanding of financial markets and products.
- Experience with real‑time monitoring systems such as ITRS Netagent.
- Coding/scripting experience preferred (any language).
Skills

- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under stress and time constraints.
- Experience with job scheduling tools such as Autosys.
- Experience with issue tracking and reporting tools such as JIRA.
- Knowledge/experience of problem management tools.
- Good all‑round PC skills (Windows OS, networks, general hardware).
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent third‑level qualification in a computer or business related discipline.
