Technical Security Consultant – Contract
Location: Hybrid – London / Sheffield (Approx. 1 day per week)
Contract Length: 60 days, with potential to extend
Want to get stuck into a serious cyber security transformation project?
We’re working with a specialist cyber security consultancy that’s looking for an experienced Technical Security Consultant to join a major client project on an initial 60‑day contract, with the possibility of an extension.
And this is a really interesting one.
The client is looking to make some significant improvements to its technical security environment, and they need someone who can come in, understand what’s currently in place, identify where things need to improve and, most importantly, help make those improvements happen.
This isn’t a contract where you’ll spend your time producing reports and recommendations that never see the light of day.
You’ll be working directly with engineering and infrastructure teams, getting hands‑on with AWS, Azure, IAM, vulnerability management and legacy infrastructure, helping tackle some genuinely interesting security challenges.
With an initial 60‑day engagement, the focus is on getting involved quickly, making an impact and delivering meaningful improvements.
What makes this contract interesting?
A proper security transformation project – Join an organisation that’s actively investing in strengthening its technical security, with plenty to get involved in from day one.
Loads of technical variety – From securing AWS and Azure environments to improving IAM, tackling vulnerabilities and working through legacy infrastructure challenges, you certainly won’t be doing the same thing every day.
Hands‑on, not just advisory – You’ll be helping design and implement security improvements, not simply telling other people what needs fixing.
Real responsibility – The client needs someone who can come in, take ownership and confidently work through complex technical security challenges.
An opportunity to make your mark – You’ll be working on improvements that could have a lasting impact on the organisation’s overall security.
Work alongside the people building the systems – You’ll be embedded within the client’s technical teams, working closely with engineers and infrastructure specialists to get things done.
Potential to extend – An initial 60‑day contract, with the possibility of continuing beyond the original engagement.
What will you be getting involved in?
- Reviewing and strengthening AWS and Azure security architecture.
- Assessing Identity and Access Management (IAM), privileged access and existing access controls.
- Identifying vulnerabilities, prioritising risks and helping teams actually remediate them.
- Getting to grips with legacy infrastructure, understanding the security challenges and finding practical ways to improve things.
- Improving the security of SaaS platforms and cloud-based services.
- Working directly with engineering and infrastructure teams to put new security controls in place.
- Supporting the wider security transformation programme and helping shape the technical improvements being made.
Who would be a good fit?
We’re looking for someone who’s been around complex technical environments, knows what good security looks like and is comfortable rolling their sleeves up to get things done.
Ideally, you’ll have:
- Strong hands‑on experience with AWS and Azure security architecture.
- A solid understanding of IAM, privileged access management and access controls.
- Experience identifying, prioritising and remediating security vulnerabilities.
- Confidence working with legacy systems and infrastructure, including the security risks that come with them.
- Experience improving security across SaaS applications and cloud environments.
- A background working closely with engineering and infrastructure teams.
- Previous involvement in technical security improvement or transformation projects.
- The ability to work independently, challenge existing approaches where needed and communicate clearly with different stakeholders.
Even better if you have:
- Active SC Clearance or BPSS.
- Previous experience working as an embedded security consultant.
- Experience helping large or complex organisations improve their technical security.
Could this be your next contract?
If you’re a Technical Security Consultant, Security Architect or hands‑on Cloud Security Engineer who enjoys solving problems rather than just documenting them, I’d definitely recommend having a conversation about this one.
It’s an initial 60‑day engagement with potential to extend, offering the chance to get involved in a substantial security improvement programme, tackle a real mix of technical challenges and work alongside a team that’s actively looking to make things better.
No endless box‑ticking. No recommendations gathering dust. Just proper technical security work with the opportunity to make a real impact.
Available immediately or coming towards the end of your current contract?
Drop me a message or apply directly and I’ll happily talk you through the project!
