Job Type: 6 month FTC

Location: This role could be based in either our Birmingham, Telford or Edinburgh offices with time spent working in the office and at home.

Flexible working: All roles are open to part-time, job-share and other types of flexibility. We will discuss what is important to you and balancing this with business requirements during the recruitment process.

If you're someone who brings analytical thinking, attention to detail and a passion for problem solving, you'll thrive as a Finance Analyst in our group expenses team on a 6 month fixed term contract to assist in the provision of professional accountancy and finance analysis service by executing specific and regular finance processes to ensure the organisation meets its regulatory, reputational and commercial requirements.

The Role: The Finance Analyst will be responsible for assisting in the production and reporting of the monthly management and annual statutory accounts for the groups service companies. This will involve supporting the month end process, ensuring intercompany positions are accurately reflected and providing MI to enable capital monitoring in all of groups service company entities. This role will also be involved in the automation of MI using Power BI.

Key responsibilities:

  • To support the MI Team in producing, coordinating and issuing an accurate ServCo entity MI pack and Expenses ExCo Pack on a monthly basis in line with agreed timetables.
  • To support the reconciliation of IFRS17 expenses with the Service Company ledger.
  • To liaise with the wider Expenses team to understand the key drivers of the expense position in the service companies.
  • Ensure the ServCo position is correct in the ledger on a monthly basis, reconcile numbers to ensure splits between Expenses & Income, BAU & Projects are understood.
  • To assist with continuously improving the MI reporting to meet the evolving management requirements.
  • To gain knowledge of the other expense processes in the expense MI team and provide cover as and when appropriate.
  • To contribute to ad hoc projects and reporting deliverables as required.
  • To assist with the automation of MI using Power BI.
  • Support the ServCo Central and Value Tracking FBPs with month-end tasks – including journals, reporting, analysis, and ad-hoc MI requests for stakeholders.

What are we looking for?

  • Newly or part-qualified accountant (ACA/CIMA/ACCA)
  • A finance background with accounting/technical experience
  • Strong analytical skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • High degree of initiative, dependability and ability to work autonomously with limited supervision
  • A good degree of computer literacy, covering MS Office (particularly Excel), General Ledgers, plus some familiarity with Oracle Cloud ledger and EPBCS would be an advantage.
  • Flexible and varied approach to workload required
  • An understanding of the Service Company business model, its drivers and the environment in which it operates would be an advantage
  • Focus on controls and systems would be an advantage.
