Most cloud engineers don't wake up one day and suddenly become cloud engineers. They start by being the person who enjoys technology more than is probably healthy. The one running a home lab. Building things in AWS on a Sunday afternoon. Automating something that could easily be done manually because it's more interesting that way. Reading about Terraform, Azure, Kubernetes or DevOps tooling simply because they're curious.
If that sounds familiar, keep reading. We're working with a growing MSP that is investing heavily in cloud technologies and automation. They already have a strong Technical Lead in place and they're looking for someone who wants to continue developing their cloud and DevOps skills alongside them. This isn't one of those roles where the advert says "cloud" but you'll spend 95% of your time resetting passwords and maintaining legacy infrastructure. You'll still need solid infrastructure fundamentals, but the direction of travel here is clear: Cloud. Automation. Infrastructure as Code. Modern platforms.
You'll get exposure to:
- Azure
- AWS
- Terraform
- Azure DevOps
- Automation and scripting
- Cloud migrations
- Modernising customer environments
You do not need commercial experience with everything on that list. We're open to candidates from:
- Strong 2nd Line backgrounds
- 3rd Line Engineers
- Infrastructure Engineers
- Technical Support Engineers
- Cloud Support Engineers
The key thing we're looking for is mindset. Someone curious. Someone who enjoys learning. Someone who wants to build a career in cloud and DevOps.
What's in it for you?
- £40,000–£50,000 salary + bonus
- Hybrid working (around 3 days onsite)
- Training and certification support
- Genuine exposure to Azure, AWS and DevOps tooling
- A clear development path into Cloud Engineering and Architecture
- A supportive team that wants people to grow
If you're currently working in infrastructure but find yourself spending your evenings watching cloud videos, building home labs or experimenting with automation, this could be exactly the move you've been looking for.
