We’re hiring a Product Engineering Manager to lead a team of 7 developers across the UK, Canada and Australia. Imagine this: Your team is waking up across three continents. By the time you’ve finished your flat white, you’ve aligned a global engineering team on a plan that will ship meaningful improvements to software used in Parliaments and governments around the world. If that thought feels energising rather than overwhelming - keep reading.

You’ll bring structure, clarity and rhythm to how we plan, build and deliver software. You won’t be writing code every day, but you will be close enough to the technology to guide decisions, unblock the team and ensure we ship well. This is a role for someone who enjoys bringing order to complexity - not by being the loudest voice, but by improving how people collaborate.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Leading and mentoring a distributed development team across 3 time zones
  • Managing the product roadmap and aligning it with business priorities
  • Running stand-ups, planning sessions, retrospectives and delivery cycles
  • Ensuring development work is scoped, prioritised and clearly defined
  • Supporting developers in making strong architectural and technical decisions
  • Introducing and refining processes to improve delivery speed and quality
  • Keeping communication clear between engineering and the rest of the organisation

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience managing or leading a software engineering team
  • A strong understanding of how modern web applications are built
  • Comfortable translating business needs into clear technical tasks
  • Confident leading delivery workflows (stand-ups, sprints, roadmaps etc.)
  • Able to work effectively across different time zones and communication styles
  • Clear communicator who values transparency and shared understanding

Nice to have (not required):

  • Background in software development (any modern backend language is fine)
  • Experience with SaaS products or public-sector / civic tech environments
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (Google Cloud, AWS etc.)
  • Experience leading distributed or remote-first teams

Seniority level: Mid‑Senior level

Employment type: Full‑time

Job function: Information Technology

Industries: Technology, Information and Media
