The Engineering function at the GSK Ware Manufacturing and Supply site is responsible for the provision of technical expertise to support the manufacturing, automation and controls systems for all production operations to ensure production targets are achieved. The Respiratory Supply Chain (RSC) engineering team work (on shift) to provide engineering expertise to support production activities.
We are looking to recruit a Shift Engineer to join the Micronising and Blending team (in the Respiratory Supply Chain) to manage a shift of Engineering Technicians (up to 6 Direct Reports). Reporting into an Engineering Operations Manager, you will be responsible for:
- Managing and developing People, Plant and/or Equipment and/or Process understanding across the Ware Site.
- Working alongside fellow engineers, contractors, suppliers and consultants to deliver a range of engineering-related activities to agreed levels of quality, cost, time and tangible benefits.
- Overall performance of the process, including making improvements to ensure delivery of the Site’s commercial strategy.
- Supporting with any regulatory auditor questions during inspections.
Other elements of the role include supporting the wider operations of GSK’s manufacturing sites, and fully understanding all the regulatory and statutory requirements (Safety and Quality/GMP) that govern manufacturing business processes.
Shift: This role is a shift role which currently operates on DD (Double Days) – 16/5 (earlies & lates 8-hour) shifts, which operate during the working week (Monday to Friday). However, please be aware that as the Shift Engineer you will need to be flexible. Up to 50% of hours worked are outside normal hours, requiring a high degree of self-reliance and ability to assess the impact of non-standard safety and/or quality events.
About You: This role would suit a motivated person who has strong experience of working in a complex GMP environment. You will be a qualified engineer, with strong people skills. A proven ability to drive performance is a must. It is imperative in this role that you demonstrate an ability to drive common-thinking, with a focus on providing solutions. You will need to be persuasive, have a strong continuous improvement mindset, and have proven experience dealing with diverse internal and external stakeholder groups. Ideally you will have worked in a highly-regulated industry.
About Ware Site: We are co-located with our R&D colleagues and recently opened a new, state-of-the-art oral solid dose facility at Ware. At this location our scientists, technicians and engineers (from R&D and Global Supply Chain – GSC) work collaboratively together (using the latest technologies) to rapidly knowledge transfer and deliver GSK’s most innovative medicines faster and more efficiently. On site we produce over 60 million respiratory inhalers each year with growing demand in future years. The site also processes Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) for use both on site and other manufacturing sites in our network.
Basic Qualifications:
- Relevant qualifications and / or experience (eg; Engineering HND / degree and relevant experience)
- Knowledge / experience in current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP)
- Engineering management experience, ideally obtained from working in a highly-regulated manufacturing environment.
