Role
As a Principal Cloud Architect, you will provide strategic guidance and long‑term vision, aligning with business goals while working closely with clients to solve complex cloud optimization and migration challenges. You will design and deliver cloud architectures and strategies that are fit for purpose, assessing environments and constraints and challenging conventional thinking.
Responsibilities
- Act as a trusted advisor guiding clients toward successful cloud solutions.
- Lead design sessions, architecture reviews, proof-of-concept projects, and evaluation of new cloud technologies and vendors.
- Engage early to create a compelling vision for cloud optimization and migration journeys.
- Guide and de-risk delivery of programmes and projects, promoting iterative value delivery.
- Mediating, resolving conflicts, and escalating when necessary.
- Support cross‑functional teams delivering and prototyping cloud platforms, services and products in multi‑cloud, hybrid, and private cloud environments.
- Define functional and non‑functional requirements and ensure solutions meet performance, capacity, scalability, availability, security, manageability and sustainability targets.
- Provide expertise on privacy and information security to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Architect enterprise‑grade infrastructure across networking, compute, storage, identity and observability in collaboration with security, platform engineering, operations and FinOps teams.
- Keep skills current with emerging technologies such as Generative AI, Foundation Models, Mainframe Transformation and Quantum Computing, and stay informed on cloud hyperscalers.
- Manage and mentor team members, promoting cloud skills, cloud‑native architecture, automation, DevSecOps and Infrastructure as Code.
Qualifications
- Experience as a Principal or Lead Cloud Architect across multiple programmes and projects.
- Expertise in AWS or Azure with cross‑training to multi‑cloud or aspiration to do so.
- Experience in fast‑paced, Agile delivery environments with a focus on quality and practical delivery.
- Experience in mentoring junior colleagues, providing feedback and career coaching.
- Open, proactive mindset with adaptability and learning mindset.
- Experience in presales activities and bid management is a differentiator.
