POSIE Project Manager: Cultural Psychiatry and Health Inequalities (CHiMES) in Oxford

Oxford Full-Time On-site
1

Location: Department of Psychiatry, Warneford Hospital, Oxford OX3 7JX

The University of Oxford is a stimulating work environment, which enjoys an international reputation as a world-class centre of excellence. Our research plays a key role in tackling many global challenges, from reducing our carbon emissions to developing vaccines during a pandemic.

The Department of Psychiatry is based on the Warneford Hospital site in Oxford – a friendly, welcoming place of work with an international reputation for excellence. The Department has a substantial research programme, with major funding from Medical Research Council (MRC), Wellcome Trust and National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) and provides highly rated medical training in psychiatry. The Head of Department is Professor Belinda Lennox.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager to lead the coordination and day-to-day delivery of a collaborative, multi-site health research project focused on postnatal severe mental illness and health inequalities. The NIHR-funded POSIE project uses photovoice to explore patient experiences and understand the drivers of inequalities during the perinatal period, using these findings to co-design local and national responses in practice and policy.

About the Role

The post is funded until 1 November 2028 and is based in the Department of Psychiatry at the Warneford Hospital.

You will work closely with the CHiMES research team and University, NHS, NGO, local authority and other external partners to coordinate the successful delivery of the POSIE project across multiple sites. You will independently plan and coordinate project activities, monitor milestones and resources, identify and manage risks and operational issues, and ensure that key activities and outputs are delivered within agreed timelines. You will support the effective financial, data-management and research-governance aspects of the project, including monitoring expenditure, coordinating data access and permissions, and preparing reports and documentation for sponsors, funders and relevant governance bodies.

You will act as a key operational contact for the project, developing effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, coordinating meetings and project activities, and ensuring clear communication and collaboration across the research programme.

About You

You will be educated to degree level in a relevant subject, or have equivalent relevant experience, with proven project management experience and the ability to plan, coordinate and deliver complex activities within an academic, NHS health research or multi-site environment. You will have strong organisational and operational management skills, including the ability to manage competing priorities, monitor resources and budgets, identify risks and problems, and develop appropriate solutions while working with a high degree of autonomy and initiative. Experience of working with people from a range of backgrounds and with differing or complex needs in health, social care or research settings, including perinatal populations and/or people experiencing severe mental illness is desirable.

Diversity

Committed to equality and valuing diversity

Our active Psychiatry People and Culture teams and initiatives including our values and behaviours framework, work to make the Department of Psychiatry as supportive, welcoming and inclusive as possible.
