Contract Type: Fixed Term 12 Months

About the Role

The School of Science brings together three key subject areas; Environmental Sciences, Biomedical and Forensic Science and Psychology.

The Psychology subject area is home to the University's Psychology and Counselling and Psychotherapy provision, delivered at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. As a TEF Gold institution, we are proud to contribute high quality programmes grounded in psychological and behavioural science with a significant focus on applied psychology and professional practice. We provide a large accredited provision across several Professional and Statutory Regulatory Bodies (including the BPS, HCPC, BABCP, BACP, NCPS and CIEHF).

We are excited to offer this Maternity Cover post to support the delivery of our growing British Psychological Society (BPS) accredited provision in Psychology on campus and online. As a Lecturer in Psychology, you will contribute to the delivery of modules that form part of the undergraduate and postgraduate portfolio across the Psychology subject area, including core areas recognised by the British Psychological Society and any specialist areas. Our provision is delivered both on campus and online.

We are advertising this role as a full time position, however we would also consider part time applications; please express your preference in your application.

This position is offered on a fixed-term basis to cover a period of maternity leave due to start in February/March 2027, with the contract for 12 months. There may be the potential for the contract to be extended beyond this date, however this cannot be guaranteed.

Anticipated interview date(s): Tuesday 1st and Wednesday 2nd December 2026

About You

You will contribute to teaching across our excellent provision to enhance its quality and ensure an outstanding student experience. There is an expectation of working collaboratively across the Psychology subject area and wider College and Institution to deliver curriculum, and to progress the research and scholarship agenda. As such, skills in communication and collaboration are vital.

We would especially welcome applications from candidates with expertise in biological psychology, cognitive psychology and/or qualitative research methods, although other applications are not excluded. We welcome applications from candidates who are in the final stages of completing their PhD (submitted or awaiting examination).
