Applications are invited for a Research Fellowship in the following Science subjects – Mathematics (Applied and Pure), Astronomy, Physics – which will normally be tenable for three years from 1 October 2027.
Offer
The prime duty of a Research Fellow is to conduct original, independent research in their field of study. They are not expected to undertake any additional administrative duties, but as trustees should attend meetings of the College’s Governing Body. In some subjects, opportunities may be available for Research Fellows to contribute to undergraduate teaching if they wish.
The pensionable stipend of post-PhD Research Fellows is currently £29,497 (pre-PhD £26,449), cost of living award pending. If a candidate is awarded external funding, the Fellowship may still be offered on a non-stipendiary basis.
Research Fellows are offered accommodation, free of charge, at our beautiful Wychfield site. Wychfield is conveniently located with gardens, a gym and sports facilities and is home to a thriving community of postgraduate students and resident Fellows. Research Fellows are also given generous dining rights and may claim research expenses of up to £2,000 per year. We warmly encourage Research Fellows to participate in the rich academic and social life of the College.
Criteria
The Fellowship is open to graduates of any gender, of any university, with no age limit.
Only those candidates who have submitted their PhD by the competition deadline will be eligible for longlisting by Trinity Hall.
These Fellowships are post-doctoral positions appropriate to the start of an academic career.
Candidates are warned that they are responsible for checking their eligibility to take up the post under UK immigration rules.
