Sanford Health is looking for an experienced Histology Technician for a full‑time position at Amber Valley Lab. Responsibilities include embedding, microtomy, staining, inventory management, and equipment maintenance. The position requires 8‑hour varied shifts, 40 weekly hours, and offers a salary range of $21.50–$38.50 per hour with eligibility for a new hire sign‑on bonus.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and prepare tissue specimens for routine and special examinations.
  • Perform complex histological procedures, including grossing, embedding, microtomy, and staining to produce diagnostic slides.
  • Review slide quality and maintain professional standards.
  • Maintain and repair laboratory instruments, disinfect work area, and stock supplies.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality control, and quality assurance standards.
  • Work independently, exercise critical judgment, and solve problems as required.
  • Interact with patients of all ages and collaborate with laboratory and healthcare personnel.
  • Assist in writing and reviewing procedures and policies, and participate in quality assurance and performance improvement activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Laboratory or Biological Sciences.
  • Prior histology experience preferred.
  • ASCP or AMT certification as a Histology Technologist/Technician required; if not certified, must be registry eligible and receive certification within 12 months.
