Key Purpose

Lead the Health, Safety, and Environmental (HS&E) function across the plant. The role proactively drives and supports the Site Leadership Team to operate in compliance with the HSE Management System across functional areas ensuring standards and processes are fully deployed and understood at all levels of the organisation. They develop, review, plan and coordinate the site’s health, safety and environmental management system and ensure compliance with company HSE Policies, Standards, Objectives and local legislative requirements.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain HS&E policies, procedures, and management systems in line with UK/EU legislation and the Group’s HS&E Management Policies.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and act as the primary liaison with government agencies, auditors, and external stakeholders.
  • Lead risk assessments, hazard identification and incident investigations, ensuring corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
  • Drive environmental monitoring and control at the site.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in safety culture, environmental sustainability, and occupational health.
  • Provide HS&E training, coaching, and awareness programs for employees at all levels.
  • Ensure that relevant HSE aspects are owned at the appropriate operational level of the organisation.
  • Monitor and report HS&E performance metrics, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives.
  • Collaborate with plant leadership and cross‑functional teams to embed HS&E considerations into operational decision‑making.
  • Manage emergency preparedness and response plans, ensuring readiness for potential incidents.
  • Lead, coach, and develop HS&E Specialists, ensuring effective delivery of HS&E programs and initiatives.
  • Develop talent, empower and mentor colleagues within the team to identify training & development needs and provide the required support for personal development, in line with the strategy.

  • Risk Assessment & Hazard Management, Incident Investigation & Root Cause Analysis.
  • Environmental Management Systems (ISO14001).
  • Occupational Health & Safety Systems (ISO45001).
  • Safety management systems and audits.
  • Emergency Preparedness & Crisis Management, including general competence/awareness of planning and coordinating emergency response, training & HS&E awareness programs.
  • Data Analysis & HS&E Reporting, monitoring KPIs and preparing compliance reports.
