Business Development Manager – 1000 Mile Travel UK
We are seeking an ambitious and energetic Business Development Manager to join 1000 Mile Travel UK, a leading global host agency and brand of CTM.
This hybrid role combines work from home with time in the London office. You will be integral to the growth of the 1000MTG business by generating SME corporate sales, acquiring independent contractors, and supporting implementation and relationship management for both corporate and contractor clients.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Able to develop and articulate 1000 MTG’s value proposition for potential customers.
- Continually source, generate and secure new corporate business, small‑to‑medium lead sourcing, including CTM lead programme, cold calling, face‑to‑face appointments and supplier and business networking.
- Achieve targets, ensuring every effort is made to win new clients and implement them as trading.
- Has strong industry relationships and is well‑regarded.
- Sales & CRM management with customer account management during implementation, acting as supporting customer continuity with the Travel Expert in a client‑facing sales role to win new business.
- Ensure sales initiatives and pipelines are aligned with the overall strategic business direction of 1000 Mile Travel.
- Create innovative initiatives, which contribute to maintaining and growing the value proposition of 1000 Mile Travel Group.
- Monitor, investigate and provide market intelligence on all competitor activity.
- Represent 1000MTG with integrity at relevant industry functions, whilst identifying new opportunities to market 1000 Mile Travel. This includes ad‑hoc global internal call requirements.
- Work closely with our internal partners, the CTM Sales team, and collaborate with all departments and teams.
- Commitment to a minimum level of specific performance goals set out in a Performance Planning and Development Agreement.
Education and Experience
- 3 years of work experience in B2B sales with proven ability to meet or exceed quota.
- Demonstrated prior success in selling corporate travel is preferred.
- Experience in consultative, solution‑based selling.
- Strong financial and business acumen.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work as part of a virtual team.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proven successful track record in sales within the travel industry.
- Understanding the needs of Travel Experts and small to mid‑sized customers’ value in today’s market.
- Passion for sales and a demonstrated ability to build and nurture client relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively.
- Working knowledge of agency operations to look credible in front of clients and internal operational teams.
- Ability to work independently, developing action plans and implementing goals and objectives.
- Self‑driven and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent negotiation skills and a high level of business acumen.
- Previous experience selling travel technology.
- Existing travel supplier network.
- Not afraid of cold calling and short life cycles of leads.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent time management and problem‑solving skills.
- Professional manner and appearance.
