This is a fantastic opportunity for you to join an established and growing technology organisation near Cardiff, seeking an experienced Automation Lead to build and mature their automation capability. This is a strategic, hands-on role where you’ll shape standards, design automation solutions, and drive adoption across the business. It will lead to a more governance role as you achieve your initial automation objectives.
The Role
You’ll lead the development of the organisation’s automation function, working across multiple business units to identify opportunities, design solutions, and deliver measurable improvements in efficiency, consistency and service quality.
Key responsibilities include:
- Establishing automation standards, governance and best practice
- Identifying automation opportunities and prioritising delivery initiatives
- Designing and delivering workflow automation solutions using n8n
- Developing reusable automation patterns, tooling and frameworks
- Ensuring solutions are secure, supportable and aligned to operational needs
- Working with stakeholders to embed automation into day-to-day operations
- Measuring and communicating the value delivered through automation
- Evaluating emerging automation technologies and advising leadership
There will be a Business Analysis side to this position which will require you to visit stakeholders and departments at different offices and so you should be willing to travel as and when required.
Skills & Experience Required
- Strong experience designing and delivering enterprise automation solutions
- Good understanding and experience with AI technology
- Hands-on expertise with workflow orchestration platforms, ideally n8n
- Strong PowerShell and Python development skills
- Experience integrating systems using APIs, JSON, webhooks and automation tooling
- Knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Azure services
- Ability to analyse business processes and identify automation opportunities
- Experience producing technical designs, documentation and standards
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Full driving licence
- You will need to be able to obtain a high level of security clearance - SC and possibly DV clearance in the near to medium future.
Desirable:
- Experience with Microsoft Copilot Studio, Azure AI Foundry, Azure Functions
- GitHub / GitHub Copilot
- Low-code / no-code platforms
- Managed services background
- ITIL Foundation or equivalent
