A well-established technology solutions provider is seeking a Field Service Engineer to join its growing technical team. This position is a mix of in-house support but with a lot of field-based work and is ideal for someone who thrives on being on the road, enjoys hands-on technical work, and is comfortable spending regular time away from home where required.
You will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and supporting a range of specialist electronic and IT-based equipment at customer sites across the UK. Full training on all industry-specific systems will be provided, but you should have good networking, MS SQL, and Software Integration skills. This position suits someone who is adaptable, practical, and enjoys a varied schedule with regular travel.
Key Responsibilities:- Some 1st and 2nd Line remote support - responding to customer’s technical issues via email and phone in line with SLAs
- Field Service Work at customer sites across the UK
- Install, configure, and support specialist IT-driven equipment at customer locations
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity issues
- Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and system checks for specialist equipment - training provided.
- Provide clear technical guidance to end users
- Maintain accurate service reports and documentation
- Attend national events, exhibitions, and customer demonstrations (including some weekends)
- Travel extensively across the UK, often requiring overnight stays
- Strong IT hardware and software troubleshooting skills
- Strong networking, MS SQL, and Software Integration
- Experience in a field service, technical support, or hands-on engineering role
- Full UK Driving Licence - essential
- Willing to learn new equipment (non-IT but working with IT)
- Confident working independently at customer sites
- Comfortable with regular travel and staying away from home
- Willing to work occasional weekends for events or installations
- Excellent communication and customer-facing skills
- Background in technical field service, electronics, or IT support
- Knowledge of device connectivity
