The Role
We are currently seeking a Mechanically Biased Maintenance Engineer to join an established manufacturing business in the Wakefield area on a permanent basis. This is a heavy mechanical role working across workshop and production machinery. The successful candidate will be responsible for both planned and reactive maintenance, with a strong focus on lathes, presses, and traditional workshop equipment rather than highly automated FMCG lines.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
- Respond to mechanical breakdowns efficiently
- Fault find and repair heavy mechanical equipment
- Maintain and repair:
- Lathes
- Milling machines
- Presses
- Workshop machinery
- Gearboxes, bearings, shafts and drive systems
Minimum Requirements
- Mechanically biased maintenance engineer
- Experience within heavy manufacturing or workshop environments
- Strong mechanical fault-finding skills
- Apprenticeship trained or time-served preferred
- Able to work independently and within a small team
- Good understanding of health & safety practices
