Hours: Monday to Thursday 7:00am – 4:00pm | Friday 7:00am – 1:00pm

The Role

We are currently seeking a Mechanically Biased Maintenance Engineer to join an established manufacturing business in the Wakefield area on a permanent basis. This is a heavy mechanical role working across workshop and production machinery. The successful candidate will be responsible for both planned and reactive maintenance, with a strong focus on lathes, presses, and traditional workshop equipment rather than highly automated FMCG lines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
  • Respond to mechanical breakdowns efficiently
  • Fault find and repair heavy mechanical equipment
  • Maintain and repair:
  • Lathes
  • Milling machines
  • Presses
  • Workshop machinery
  • Gearboxes, bearings, shafts and drive systems
  • Work on hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Conduct basic electrical fault finding (motors, drives, control panels)
  • Support continuous improvement and small engineering projects
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with health & safety standards
  • Minimum Requirements

    • Mechanically biased maintenance engineer
    • Experience within heavy manufacturing or workshop environments
    • Strong mechanical fault-finding skills
    • Apprenticeship trained or time-served preferred
    • Able to work independently and within a small team
    • Good understanding of health & safety practices
