We are looking for a mechanical maintenance engineer who values hands-on work and wants a stable, long-term role in Wakefield.

Location: Wakefield

Salary: £40,000–£43,000 per year

The Opportunity: This isn't your typical maintenance role. You will be working in a practical, hands-on environment maintaining and repairing a wide range of machinery and equipment, from older to modern. The role requires a strong mechanical mindset rather than just swapping parts.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Maintaining and repairing a variety of mechanical equipment
  • Fault-finding on gearboxes, bearings, shafts, belts, and drive systems
  • Working on rollers, rotating equipment, and material handling systems
  • Carrying out component repairs and rebuilds
  • Supporting hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Completing PPMs and responding to breakdowns
  • Supporting improvement work across the site

What We're Looking For:

  • A hands-on engineer who enjoys practical mechanical work
  • Someone comfortable working on a variety of machinery (not just automated lines)
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability
  • A reliable team player who can also work independently
  • Apprentice trained or time-served (preferred)
