An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Materials Planner to join a fast-paced manufacturing environment in Morley, Leeds. Operating within a short lead-time production facility, this role plays a key part in ensuring material availability while maintaining tight control of stock levels and budgets.
This is a hands-on, operational role suited to someone with strong MRP experience who enjoys working closely with suppliers and production teams to keep manufacturing running smoothly.
About the Role
You will take ownership of material planning and availability across production, ensuring the right materials are on site at the right time. The role covers MRP planning, purchase order management, goods receipt, supplier performance, and stock control, balancing availability with working capital and storage constraints.
Key Responsibilities
- Material Planning & MRP Control
- Plan materials using MRP, including local suppliers, containers, and bulk call-offs
- Maintain minimum stock levels and planning parameters
- Forecast material requirements in line with production demand and lead times
- Purchasing & Order Management
- Raise purchase orders in line with MRP signals
- Process supplier order confirmations
- Complete goods received notes accurately and promptly
- Supplier Coordination
- Liaise with suppliers to ensure OTIF deliveries
- Proactively manage late or at-risk deliveries
- Support continuous improvement in supplier performance
- Stock Control & Financial Discipline
- Control stock holding within agreed budgets
- Balance availability, working capital, and storage constraints
- Support stock accuracy through disciplined system control
Skills & Experience
- Essential
- Experience in materials planning or materials control within manufacturing
- Strong working knowledge of MRP systems
- Experience managing purchase orders and goods receipt
- Confident communicator with suppliers
- Strong numerical and organisational skills
