About the Role

Are you a skilled maintenance professional ready to take the next step in your career? We’re looking for an ambitious Maintenance Manager to lead all maintenance activities at our busy manufacturing facility in Leeds. This is a hands-on leadership role, offering the chance to shape and develop a high-performing maintenance team, oversee contractors, and ensure all machinery, plant equipment, and factory installations operate safely and efficiently. You’ll drive preventative maintenance, minimise downtime, and maintain the highest safety and compliance standards. You’ll work closely with operations, health & safety, and production teams to support continuous improvement and maintain exceptional operational standards across the factory.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day running of the maintenance function
  • Develop and manage a Preventative Maintenance (PPM) programme
  • Provide hands-on support across machinery and plant equipment
  • Coordinate and manage subcontractors, ensuring full compliance with RAMS and Permit to Work systems
  • Maintain and repair manufacturing machinery, factory equipment, cranes, and batching plant
  • Ensure LOLER compliance for lifting equipment and electrical installations
  • Plan and coordinate repair activities, including scheduling and cost management
  • Monitor maintenance budgets and spare parts inventory
  • Identify recurring machinery issues and implement long-term solutions
  • Enforce health & safety procedures and maintain excellent housekeeping
  • Lead, supervise, and develop your maintenance team, identifying training and development needs
  • Attend weekly maintenance planning meetings with the Operations Director

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience in a Maintenance Manager or Supervisor role within manufacturing
  • Electrical qualification (NVQ Level 3, HNC, or equivalent)
  • Strong knowledge of preventative maintenance systems and plant maintenance
  • Experience managing contractors and maintenance teams
  • Familiarity with LOLER regulations, RAMS, and Permit to Work systems
  • Budget management experience and spare parts inventory control
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
  • Ability to work strategically and hands-on when needed
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety and industrial compliance standards
