Our client is a growing precision engineering manufacturer based in Keighley and is currently looking to recruit an experienced CNC Mill/Turn Programmer to join their machine shop on a permanent basis. This is an exciting opportunity to join the business during a period of growth and play a key role in establishing a brand-new late shift within the machine shop. The successful candidate will initially complete a period of day shifts to learn the products, processes and wider business before moving onto the permanent late shift.
This role will suit an experienced machinist who is confident working independently and is able to programme, set, operate and troubleshoot Fanuc-controlled mill/turn machinery with minimal supervision.
The primary focus of the role is to take responsibility for machining operations on the newly created late shift, ensuring components are produced efficiently, accurately and to a high standard. The successful candidate will be self-sufficient in Fanuc mill/turn programming, setting, operating and troubleshooting, as they will be the sole machinist on shift after 5pm alongside warehouse operatives. This is a role requiring a confident, capable engineer who can work autonomously and take ownership of the shift.
Key Responsibilities
- Programme, set and operate Fanuc-controlled CNC mill/turn machinery
- Work from engineering drawings to produce precision machined components
- Carry out machine set-ups, prove-outs and programme adjustments where required
- Troubleshoot machining, tooling and programming issues independently
- Ensure components are produced to the correct specification and quality standards
- Carry out in-process checks and first-off inspections
- Maintain efficient machine utilisation and support production output
- Work autonomously on the late shift and manage workload effectively
- Support continuous improvement of machining processes where possible
- Ensure all work is carried out safely and in line with company procedures
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience programming, setting and operating Fanuc CNC mill/turn machinery
- Strong background in CNC machining within a precision engineering or manufacturing environment
- Ability to work independently and troubleshoot issues without direct supervision
- Experience working from engineering drawings and machining to tight tolerances
- Confident with machine set-up, programme editing and process adjustments
- Comfortable working as the sole machinist on shift
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach
- Reliable, self-motivated and able to take ownership of the role

- Experience working across both milling and turning operations
- Experience in a low-volume / high-precision machining environment
