Must Haves:
- Proven experience as a CNC Milling Programmer / Setter / Operator
- Strong working knowledge of Heidenhain controls
- Experience programming directly at the machine
- Experience operating 3 and 4 Axis vertical milling machines
- Ability to machine exotic materials including Inconel and Nitronic
- Strong understanding of tooling, fixtures, feeds and speeds
- Ability to work to tight tolerances and high-quality standards

Due to continued growth and increasing customer demand, our client is looking to add an experienced Milling Programmer / Setter / Operator to their skilled machining team on a permanent day shift basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced CNC machinist to join a respected precision engineering business manufacturing high-quality components for demanding industries. The role would suit someone confident programming, setting, and operating CNC vertical milling machines using Heidenhain controls whilst working with high-specification and exotic materials. We are looking for someone who can hit the ground running, take ownership of their work, and contribute towards maintaining exceptional quality standards throughout production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Programming CNC milling machines directly at the machine using Heidenhain controls
- Setting and operating 3 and 4 Axis vertical milling machines
- Loading, editing, proving, and optimising CNC programs
- Setting fixtures, vices, tooling, and work offsets
- Machining precision components from exotic materials including Inconel, Nitronic, and stainless steels
- Working from engineering drawings and technical specifications
- Selecting suitable tooling, feeds, speeds, and cutting strategies
- Carrying out first-off and in-process inspection
- Maintaining tight tolerances and high surface finish standards
- Identifying and resolving machining and tooling issues
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised working environment
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Previous experience as a CNC Milling Programmer / Setter / Operator
- Strong experience with Heidenhain controls
- Experience machining exotic or difficult-to-machine materials
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Strong understanding of precision engineering and machining practices
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable Skills:
- Experience within aerospace, oil & gas, medical, or motorsport industries
- Experience with one-off or small batch production
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement techniques
