The Opportunity
We are currently recruiting for an experienced CNC Machinist to join a highly skilled manufacturing team based in Leeds. This position will involve setting and operating CNC milling and turning machinery, working to tight tolerances and high-quality engineering standards across a variety of complex components and materials. The successful candidate will be joining a business offering long-term stability, modern facilities, excellent benefits, and a 4-day working week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Setting and operating CNC milling and turning machines
  • Working to tight tolerances on precision-engineered components
  • Editing CNC programmes using Heidenhain, Siemens, or Haas controls
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings
  • Completing inspections using Renishaw probes and hand measuring equipment
  • Carrying out quality checks to maintain high engineering standards
  • Supporting production deadlines and manufacturing targets
  • Completing production paperwork and maintaining traceability
  • Carrying out basic machine maintenance and safety checks
  • Working in line with company quality procedures and MOD standards

Essential Requirements

  • Apprentice trained or equivalent engineering background
  • CNC milling and turning experience
  • Experience using Heidenhain iTNC 640 and/or Haas G-code controls
  • Ability to manufacture components from engineering drawings
  • Experience working to tight tolerances
  • Experience machining carbon steel and stainless steel
  • Strong attention to detail and quality standards

Desirable Experience

  • CNC programming experience - is a bonus!
  • Experience with SolidWorks and SolidCAM
  • Experience machining exotic materials
  • Precision engineering or defence sector background
