This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established manufacturing business as a Production Supervisor within the Moulding Department, specialising in styrene packaging. The role is hands-on, operational, and people-focused, supporting the Production Manager with the day-to-day running of moulding operations. You will be responsible for supervising teams on the shop floor, ensuring production targets, quality standards, and health & safety requirements are consistently met.
This role is ideal for a confident production professional with supervisory experience who enjoys leading by example, driving efficiency, and maintaining high standards in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Production Operations
- Support the planning and organisation of daily moulding operations
- Set up and structure shifts to meet production targets and customer demand
- Supervise moulding machines and production lines producing styrene packaging
- Lead daily toolbox talks and shift handovers
- Monitor output, scrap levels, downtime, and efficiency
- Ensure materials, tooling, and labour are available for each shift
- Investigate production issues, quality defects, and downtime
- Liaise with maintenance, quality, and planning teams to minimise disruptions
- Ensure accurate production records and reports are completed
- Ensure all machinery is operated safely and in line with procedures
- Confirm all staff are wearing appropriate PPE
- Promote safe working practices across the moulding department
- Report and investigate accidents, near misses, and safety concerns
- Support compliance with health & safety, quality, and environmental standards
- Lead, motivate, and support production operatives on shift
- Assist with training, onboarding, and skills development
- Support disciplinary processes and performance management where required
- Ensure product quality standards for styrene packaging are maintained
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, efficiency, and waste reduction
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the department
- Support audits and ISO / quality accreditation requirements
Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in a production supervisory or team leader role
- Background in plastic moulding, packaging, or high-volume manufacturing
- Knowledge of styrene or similar polymer materials (preferred)
- Strong understanding of production KPIs and performance monitoring
- Experience working with production planning and manufacturing systems
- Good IT skills (Microsoft packages preferred)
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams
Qualifications
- Relevant manufacturing or supervisory qualification (desirable)
