The Opportunity
We are seeking a hands-on Multi-Skilled Works Engineer with strong electrical and mechanical skills to join a busy manufacturing operation in Bingley. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys a varied, practical maintenance role across production machinery and factory equipment. Experience with plastic machinery is advantageous but not essential. You will ensure machinery, processes, and the site remain safe, reliable, and efficient, and you will play a key role in supporting planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and continuous improvement initiatives.
Working Hours & On-Call
- Normal hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm
- On-call rota: Alternate weeks with existing engineer (1 week on, 1 week off)
- Call-out payment
Key Responsibilities
- Respond quickly to production machine issues and minimise downtime
- Carry out electrical and mechanical maintenance on production machinery and equipment
- Plan, undertake, and record maintenance to ensure maximum production output and efficiency
- Monitor and maintain machine safety devices, fire/smoke alarms, and emergency exits
- Isolate any machinery or areas deemed unsafe
- Support planned preventative maintenance (PPM) programmes in coordination with Works Manager and supervisors
- Supervise third-party contractors and visitors to maintain safety and compliance
- Ensure health & safety and quality requirements (BRC) are met
- Maintain a tidy, organised workshop and equipment
- Always wear correct PPE and follow safe working procedures
- Undertake other duties as required by Senior Engineer, Works Manager, or Director
Candidate Requirements
- Time-served, multi-skilled engineer with strong electrical and mechanical experience
- Electrical qualifications preferred
- Hands-on experience with industrial machinery and production equipment
- Knowledge of plastic machinery advantageous but not essential
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks
- Flexible, self-motivated, and able to follow instructions and procedures
- Proactive approach to health & safety and safe working practices
