Role Description

This role will work closely alongside both the Sales and Renewals teams to assess risk on quotations, carry out validation checks and provide pricing support to sales agents. The successful candidate will also support renewal administration processes including obtaining renewal information, carrying out claims checks and completing referral work. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to further develop their underwriting knowledge and grow within a fast-paced and evolving department.

Salary

Β£33k+.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide support and guidance to sales agents regarding underwriting queries
  • Support the underwriting of all New Business and Renewals
  • Assist in maintaining high new business conversion and renewal retention levels
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with insurer partners
  • Support processes to evidence underwriting decisions across all risks
  • Assist in the development and growth of insurer accounts
  • Ensure policy distribution across key insurance partners
  • Ensure all quotes contain accurate supporting notes for audit purposes
  • Carry out renewal administration tasks including:
    • Obtaining renewal invites
    • Claims updates
    • Validation checks
  • Obtain premiums from insurers in a timely manner, including liaising with insurers by phone
  • Assist in maintaining retention reports
  • Raise any concerns regarding processing, risk or compliance
  • Support the ongoing requirements of the growing team
  • Represent One Answer Insurance Services professionally at all times
  • Maintain a flexible approach to support changing business

Qualifications

  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to assess risk, interpret data, and apply underwriting guidelines consistently.
  • Proficiency with insurance documentation, policy wording, and basic financial concepts, including premiums, claims ratios, and loss trends.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with colleagues, brokers, and clients in a clear and professional manner.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy in data entry, and strong organisational skills to manage multiple cases and deadlines.
  • Comfort with office software and insurance systems, including policy administration and customer relationship management tools.
  • Prior experience in underwriting, insurance operations, or a related financial services role is highly beneficial.
  • Relevant professional training or certifications in insurance or risk management (e.g., CII or equivalent) are an advantage.
  • Experience in broker underwriting preferred (not necessary)
  • Ability to work effectively on a 40 hour contract, on-site in Polegate, contributing to a collaborative, inclusive, and customer-focused team environment.
