Service Engineer in Ashton

Role Overview

A Service Engineer in the Pumps & Power division of Carrier Rental Systems, responsible for repairing and maintaining diesel-powered equipment – including pumps and generators – at the depot in Peterborough and at customer sites. The role requires a focus on Health & Safety, equipment compliance, and uninterrupted customer service.

Responsibilities

• Service, maintain and repair pumps, generators and diesel equipment in depot and field environments.
• Prepare and inspect equipment at the depot to ensure it is fully operational before deployment.
• Carry out major overhauls and refurbishments of end‑of‑life equipment.
• Diagnose faults and perform repairs to minimise equipment downtime.
• Collaborate with the service team, hire controller and foreman for smooth operations.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations and company policies at all times.
• Maintain a clean and organised working environment to meet safety and quality standards.
• Travel to customer sites and participate in an on‑call rota (one week in four).

Qualifications

• Experience with plant equipment, pumps, generators and diesel engines.
• Relevant qualifications such as NVQ Level3, an M&E apprenticeship or equivalent.
• Full UK driving licence or equivalent.

Pay and Compensation

The annual base salary for this position ranges from £36,799 to £40,961, based on skills, education and experience. The role includes call‑out pay and overtime compensation.
