We're looking to add a C# Developer to our team here at Mentor, on a hybrid basis, working out of our Huddersfield office. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, reliable, and efficient solutions using Microsoft technologies. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to writing clean, maintainable code.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain applications using C# and the .NET framework/.NET Core.
  • Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code following industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with business analysts, designers, and other developers to understand requirements and deliver technical solutions.
  • Develop and integrate RESTful APIs and third-party services.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve software defects and performance issues.
  • Create and execute unit and integration tests to ensure software quality.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of development standards.
  • Maintain and optimise SQL Server databases, including writing queries, stored procedures, and performance tuning.
  • Support deployment activities and monitor applications in production.
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and recommend improvements to existing systems.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Strong experience developing applications using C# and .NET/.NET Core.
  • Solid understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) principles and design patterns.
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server and database development.
  • Knowledge of REST APIs, JSON, and web services.
  • Experience with Git or other version control systems.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with ASP.NET MVC, ASP.NET Core, or Blazor.
  • Knowledge of Entity Framework or Entity Framework Core.
  • Experience with Azure cloud services.
  • Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, or CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with JavaScript frameworks such as Angular or React.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent commercial experience.
  • Relevant Microsoft certifications are advantageous but not essential.
