The Senior Technology Delivery Lead is accountable for the successful delivery of complex technology solutions and services, combining deep technical expertise, people leadership, commercial judgement and senior client engagement. This is a hands‑on technology leadership role. The successful candidate will operate comfortably at both strategic and technical levels, working directly with architects, engineers and platform specialists to challenge designs, technology choices and delivery approaches. They will lead multidisciplinary teams and ensure solutions are technically robust, secure, scalable, commercially viable and aligned to client and business outcomes.

What you’ll be doing

  • Technology Leadership & Technical Delivery
    • Own end‑to‑end technology delivery across complex programmes and services, from mobilization, discovery and solution design through implementation, transition and live operation.
    • Provide hands‑on technical leadership, working with architects, engineers and specialists to review and challenge solution designs, technology choices and delivery approaches.
    • Maintain sufficient technical depth to identify design weaknesses, delivery risks and operational issues before they affect outcomes.
    • Ensure solutions address scalability, resilience, security, performance, interoperability, operability, maintainability and cost.
    • Drive resolution of complex technical issues, remove delivery blockers and uphold appropriate engineering and architecture standards.
    • Balance strategic technology direction with practical implementation, delivery constraints and client priorities.
  • Cloud, Hyperscaler & Enterprise Platform Leadership
    • Work effectively with major cloud, hyperscaler and enterprise platform providers, including AWS, Microsoft Azure, Salesforce and ServiceNow, together with their partner ecosystems.
    • Collaborate with platform providers, alliance partners and internal architecture teams on solution architecture, technology roadmaps and complex client opportunities, including Salesforce, Mulesoft, Snowflake and others.
    • Challenge whether proposed solutions make appropriate use of native platform capabilities, integrations, automation and security controls.
    • Prevent unnecessary complexity, vendor lock‑in, duplicated capability, technical debt and avoidable run cost.
    • Assess platform and partner proposals against business outcomes, technical fit, delivery risk, commercial value and long‑term sustainability.
  • Client & Senior Stakeholder Leadership
    • Act as a trusted senior technology partner to clients and internal leaders, translating complex technical matters into clear business, operational and commercial implications.
    • Engage credibly with CIOs, CTOs, enterprise architects and business executives, as well as senior representatives from strategic technology partners.
    • Constructively challenge client and stakeholder assumptions where proposed requirements or solutions could create unnecessary cost, risk, complexity or technical debt.
    • Present credible alternatives supported by evidence, technical reasoning and a clear understanding of desired business outcomes.
    • Create alignment across technology, operations, commercial and business stakeholders where priorities or viewpoints conflict.
    • Be an excellent communicator that drives decisions and outcomes.
  • Delivery, Risk & Governance
    • Take accountability for delivery outcomes, quality, timelines, dependencies, risks and commercial commitments.
    • Establish proportionate technology governance that supports pace and control without unnecessary bureaucracy.
    • Proactively identify technical, operational, security and delivery risks and ensure effective mitigation and escalation.
    • Provide clear, evidence‑based reporting to senior leadership and clients.
    • Drive continuous improvement across engineering quality, delivery practices and technology operations.

What we’re looking for

  • Essential Experience
    • Significant senior‑level experience delivering large‑scale, complex enterprise technology solutions or services.
    • A strong technical background with evidence of remaining hands‑on and technically engaged while operating in a senior leadership role.
    • Demonstrable experience working with major platforms and ecosystems such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, Salesforce, Snowflake and ServiceNow.
    • Experience engaging directly with hyperscalers, software vendors, strategic partners and systems integrators on architecture, roadmaps and client solutions.
    • Broad understanding of cloud, SaaS/PaaS, applications, APIs and integration, data platforms, cybersecurity, infrastructure, automation and DevOps.
    • Proven experience making, reviewing or challenging significant architecture and technology decisions.
    • Experience applying Agile, DevOps and relevant IT service‑management principles in complex delivery environments.
    • Proven experience leading and developing multidisciplinary technical teams, including managers and senior specialists.
    • Strong client‑facing experience, including constructive challenge of senior stakeholders on technology strategy and solution direction.
    • Strong commercial judgement, connecting technical choices with cost, risk, scalability, service performance and customer outcomes.
    • Experience working with regulated industries and/or the public sector.
  • Qualifications & Professional Development
    • Relevant degree or equivalent practical experience is expected.
    • Architecture, cloud, platform, security, Agile or service‑management certifications are advantageous where supported by demonstrable delivery experience.
  • Leadership Profile
    • A technologist first, not solely a programme or delivery manager. Able to move seamlessly between detailed design discussions and executive‑level client conversations.
    • Confident to challenge senior stakeholders while remaining constructive, evidence‑led and collaborative.
    • Combines technical depth, commercial judgement, people leadership and client credibility.
