About the Role and Team

We’re reimagining how to understand eBay’s international markets in an AI-driven eCommerce world—and we’re looking for a consultative, transformational leader who blends technical depth with product intuition. If you’re motivated to unearth profound insights to build impactful solutions that drive customer engagement, this role is tailored for you. Your role as Director of International Markets Analysis will involve guiding the strategies to improve eBay's comprehension of customers and business tactics across International Markets (UK, Germany, France, Italy, Canada, and Australia). Your mission? Work closely with senior business leaders in eBay's International Markets to understand markets and build data-driven solutions using AI. This role has a special emphasis on the UK market where many important global strategies are being incubated and tested. This is a globally-visible, key leadership opportunity in our Global Customer Data Science team which is high-impact and high-agency, perfect for a hands-on leader who thrives in fast-paced, collaborative environments. What You Will Accomplish

  • Provide consultative, thought leadership to global senior leaders supporting International Markets.
  • Lead and encourage the science & insights strategy to proactively help eBay to better understand customers and each market’s business.
  • Supervise and lead data science analytics teams who are dedicated to International Markets.
  • Devise methodologies and approaches to exploring the data and discovering the right science solutions needed.
  • Be comfortable being deep into the solution details while also crafting executive summary level presentations that help the larger eBay business understand the “Why” behind science, data and insights.
  • Collaborate extensively with key partners in other parts of Global Analytics and Global Customer Insights to connect the internal and external view of customers.
  • Lead the creation of regular updates to the executive leadership team for International Markets and throughout the eBay global business on the health of the eBay customer base, spotting the opportunity areas and working with partners to drive strategies that help eBay grow.
  • Consider the application of data analysis and scientific data interpretation as a tool to develop balanced solutions that provide enduring value to the business.
  • Be a guide on eBay’s data and enjoy applying research to real world problems.

What You Will Bring

  • Master’s degree or above in a quantitative field, e.g., statistics, mathematics, physics, computer science, economics, engineering.
  • 12+ years of experience in Customer data science or analytics roles, including 5+ years leading teams.
  • Experience leading multi-location, internationally based teams.
  • Experience in Analytics/Data Science Consulting (preferred).
  • Consistent track record building analytical products and customer data-science driven programs.
  • Deep understanding of customer data, customer analytics and data science techniques, including experience evaluating ML models with custom metrics and robust frameworks.
  • Excellent logical, analytical and conceptual skills.
  • Good understanding of experimental design and statistics.
  • Strong data-driven decision making.
  • Effective communication abilities and capacity to influence cross-functional collaborators, including demonstrated experience collaborating with C-level executives, crafting content suitable for this audience level.
  • Bold, proactive approach; capable of adjusting to new challenges and completing tasks in uncertain situations.
  • Startup mindset—comfortable with ambiguity, bias for action, and fast iteration.
  • Experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, and RAG techniques (preferred).
