At Checkout.com, our Cloud Engineers build the resilient, scalable, and secure foundations that enable our Merchants to boost their acceptance rates, cut processing costs, and fight fraud. We are looking for engineers to help us evolve our Azure ecosystem, ensuring our infrastructure is as high‑performing as the code it supports.
What we are looking for
- Educational Background: Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Azure Fundamentals: At least 1 year of experience in a cloud engineering role. Familiarity with core Azure services such as Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure Functions, App Services, and CosmosDB.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Foundational knowledge of Terraform (preferred).
- Networking & Security: Basic understanding of Azure networking patterns (e.g., Hub‑and‑Spoke VNet architecture, Azure Front Door, Private Links) and security best practices using Azure Key Vault and RBAC.
- DevOps Mindset: Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions) and a passion for automation.
- Problem Solving: Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to triage common flows unaided during incidents.
- AI Curious: Eager to explore how AI can enhance infrastructure automation and team productivity.
- Communication: Great communication skills with the ability to provide clear updates on progress and interact with stakeholders to resolve common support queries.
How you’ll make an impact
- Design & Deliver: Build and maintain small‑to‑medium sized cloud services, ensuring alignment with Checkout Engineering standards and architectural patterns.
- Collaborate & Grow: Partner with Senior Engineers to deliver project‑level work within your Atom and actively participate in team ceremonies and peer reviews.
- Operational Excellence: Adopt full operational responsibility for your services, providing triage and support to ensure high availability of our payment systems.
- System Reasoning: Create well‑documented solutions that are easy to reason about, even for those unfamiliar with the system.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for improvement within your team’s cloud footprint and design/implement these enhancements with mentors.
- Ownership: Display high accountability for delivered tasks, showing urgency during incidents.
