Purpose of the role
As Electrical Supervisor, you will be responsible for providing and organising Electrical maintenance for all operational activities and equipment on site. You will ensure that all planned and preventative maintenance is carried out in accordance with the SAP plans, you will be responsible for ensuring that daily inspections are carried out including identification, reporting and rectification of faults to reduce breakdowns and improve plant reliability.
Key Accountabilities
Team Leadership & Management
-
Supervise, mentor, and coordinate a small team of electricians (1–2 personnel).

Allocate daily tasks and priorities based on production needs and fault severity.
-
Conduct toolbox talks, safety briefings, and promote a strong safety culture.
-
Monitor team performance, provide coaching, and support skill development.
-
Manage shift schedules, leave requests, and ensure adequate night shift coverage.
Operational & Maintenance Oversight
-
Oversee all electrical maintenance activities during the shift, ensuring timely and quality work.
-
Review fault reports and verify completion of repairs by electricians.
-
Support electricians with complex fault diagnostics and escalations.
-
Ensure PM tasks are completed per schedule and documented correctly.
Electrical Systems & Equipment Responsibility
-
Take ownership of site electrical systems’ availability and reliability, including:
-
Motors, MCCs, PLCs, lighting, power distribution, and safety systems.
-

Lead or coordinate major electrical repairs and component replacements (e.g., motor changes, panel refurbishments).
-
Maintain records of all maintenance activities, inspections, and compliance audits.
Safety & Compliance Leadership
-
Enforce strict adherence to safety procedures, electrical codes, and quarry regulations.

Lead risk assessments and review method statements (RAMS) for electrical work to ensure:

All hazards are identified and mitigated.
-
Safe systems of work are clearly defined and communicated.

Approve or recommend adjustments to RAMS before work begins.

Lead safe isolation and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) compliance.
-
Investigate incidents or near misses and implement corrective actions.
-
Coordinate with site safety officers and other supervisors for integrated safety management.
Communication & Reporting
-
Prepare and deliver shift handovers and detailed reports to day shift supervisors and engineering management.
-
Liaise with production, engineering, and external contractors as necessary.

Provide updates on outstanding issues, spare parts needs, and team development plans.
Continuous Improvement & Training
-
Identify opportunities to improve maintenance processes, reduce downtime, and optimise team efficiency.

Organise or facilitate training sessions and competency assessments for electricians.
-
Support implementation of new electrical technologies and upgrades.
Spare Parts & Tools Management
-
Monitor and manage inventory of critical electrical spares and tools.
-
Coordinate with procurement for timely ordering and stock replenishment.

Ensure workshop and storage areas meet safety and organisational standards.
Key Skills & Qualifications
-
Qualified Electrician with supervisory experience (NVQ Level 3+ or equivalent).
-
Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, controls, and maintenance practices.

Experience in reviewing and approving Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
-
Proven leadership skills, with ability to motivate and develop small teams.
-
Experience in quarry or heavy industry environment preferred.
-
Good communication, planning, and problem-solving skills.

Knowledge of health and safety regulations specific to electrical work (e.g., 18th Edition wiring regs, safe isolation)
