For our branch in Brigg, we are looking for a:

Field Service Technician (Semi-Skilled Mechanic)

Location: Brigg, North Lincolnshire

You will be the focus of our activity on customer sites, performing the installation, commissioning and handover of rental equipment to our customers. We operate nationwide so the role can be wide-ranging. This may include occasional nights away from home. At the end of the project you will attend site to check and recover the rental equipment.

When not required on customer sites, you will be responsible for completing maintenance inspections and repairs at our fully equipped branch location to ensure maximum availability and reliability of the rental fleet. The role involves being available to work overtime as and when required outside of normal working hours.

Your focus:

  • Operate a van and trailer to deliver, set up and de-install various types of United Rentals equipment (e.g. tanks, manifolds, hoses, berms, pumps, filtration and generators) at customers’ sites
  • Equipment inspection, maintenance and repair (pre & post-delivery)
  • Provide customer handover of rental equipment
  • Safety conscious
  • Load vehicles at the yard
  • Keep vehicles, tools, yard and workshop in a clean and safe condition
  • Update driver logs and other regulatory record keeping requirements

Your Profile:

Experience is not essential, as full training is provided but semi-skilled mechanical awareness would be advantageous.

  • You are able to work accurately and in accordance with pre-defined procedures.
  • You enjoy physical work in a relaxed, team-orientated culture.
  • Driving license B is essential.
  • You can be a team player or work independently with high flexibility.
  • Mechanical aptitude (desirable training will be provided however a previous work history in a similar position would be advantageous)
  • Good oral and written communication skills (essential)
  • Basic knowledge of IT to complete work sheets and safety training
