Are you a hands-on problem solver who enjoys being out in the field rather than stuck behind a desk? We are seeking an Installation Engineer to join our growing team, supporting the installation and maintenance of innovative hardware infrastructure on agricultural sites across the UK. In this role, you will be the face of our technical operations on-site, ensuring our systems operate reliably while providing exceptional service to our customers.
The Role
- This is a primarily field-based position where no two days are the same. You will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and upgrading equipment across various customer environments, specifically farms and equine yards.
- Deployment & Maintenance: Lead the installation of hardware on-site, ensuring all devices are fully operational through diagnostic and configuration tasks.
- Unique Environments: You will work around livestock (cattle and horses) and must be comfortable working at heights using ladders, cherry pickers, or temporary platforms.
- Travel: This role requires significant travel (60-80%) across the UK, often visiting multiple sites per week.
- Documentation: Maintain clear records of installations, including photos, site access notes, and physical layout details.
- Safety First: Conduct Point of Work Risk Assessments (POWRA) and ensure all installations meet technical and safety guidelines.
Who You Are
We are looking for a versatile professional who takes pride in high-quality service, has exposure to agriculture & farming, and would be comfortable working in this environment to carry out physical installation work.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Hands-on Experience: Practical experience with tools, networking, or construction in a related sector - essentially, we need somebody happy to work in a physical capacity and get their hands dirty (specific training on the product can be provided).
- Independence: Ability to manage your own schedule and solve problems proactively in the field.
- Communication: Clear written and verbal communication for reporting and client interaction.
Requirements: A full UK driving licence is essential for this role. Location: Ideally based in Derbyshire or nearby, to facilitate proximity to our HQ in Belper.
Desirable Extras:
- Networking Knowledge: Understanding of TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, and firewalls.
- Hardware Familiarity: Experience with routers, network switches, and wireless access points.
- Sector Experience: Prior experience working in agricultural or equestrian environments.
Qualifications: IPAF 3A and 3B certifications (or equivalent).
Why Join Us? You will be the "go-to" person for on-site success, maintaining a vital feedback loop between the field and our HQ to help drive our technology forward. This is an opportunity to manage a variety of tasks in a dynamic, real-world environment where your work has a direct impact on customer success.
