About the Role
Please note that this post is funded for the 2026/27 academic year onwards so the successful candidate would not be expected to commence in post prior to August 2026. Student Services supports students at each stage of their journey from pre‑entry to post‑exit. The department has a student‑orientated culture and puts students’ needs at the heart of everything it does.
Responsibilities
- Lead on developing, delivering, planning, and coordinating a range of enrichment activities with high levels of engagement.
- Provide a programme that supports students to build resilience, stay safe and develop employability, personal and social skills.
- Proactively build positive relationships with students and effectively challenge behaviour/signpost to support services.
Qualifications
- Qualified to Level 3 or above in an appropriate area (Youth & Community, Education, Psychology, Sociology, Health & Social Care or IAG).
- Experience working with young people aged 16‑19 years from a variety of backgrounds, understanding the needs and issues surrounding them and the difficulties students face.
- Experience of planning, coordinating, and delivering activities for young people in an educational setting (or similar) and being able to engage with high numbers of young people to support them to engage with activities.
- Able to use initiative, organise and prioritise, with a working knowledge of barriers to participation and how to increase participation within an educational environment.
- Understanding relevant external organisations that can be engaged to support and develop enrichment opportunities.
Interview Process
Following the initial round of interviews, if you are successful for the second interview, there will be a session where you will be asked to engage with the students.
Location
Based predominantly at Carshalton College but you may be required to also work from Merton College.
Salary Adjustments
The successful candidate will be eligible for any increase in salary as a consequence of the annual cost of living review that will be implemented in the new academic year.
