Merton College is seeking an experienced Electrical Installation lecturer to deliver outstanding quality in teaching, learning, assessment, and tutorial support to students, to maximise achievement and continuous improvement. You’ll play a key role in supporting the development of the curriculum, with employer engagement, and learner skills development.

Acting as a Course Leader and Academic Tutor, you’ll create and implement innovative teaching, learning and assessment and deliver teaching and assessment activities within your area of specialism including lectures, setting/marking coursework, practicals, and field work to undergraduates and postgraduates.

We’d like you to hold a teaching qualification (or be working towards one), be qualified to a minimum of L3 in Electrical Installation and have recent teaching experience in Electrical Installation in an FE College, School or private provider. You’ll have experience of teaching on Electrical Installation courses such as C&G 7202-01, 2365-02, 2365-03, 8202-30, EAL Electrotechnical and T levels and teaching or a working knowledge of Green Skills technologies (Solar/PV, EV Chargers, Air Source Heat Pumps and Retrofit) and of delivering Electrical Inspection & Testing 2391/51 and 2391/52 and the 18th Edition BS7671: 2018.

With strong evidence of good‑to‑outstanding teaching, learning, assessment and tracking and a successful record of tutoring and supporting learners, you’ll be able to work under pressure and to strict validating body deadlines and provide evidence of assessment for Moderation. You’ll have effective verbal and written communication skills in both group and interpersonal situations.

You must be able to work a minimum of 2 evenings per week teaching part time courses to Adults (Friday given in lieu during term time as remission). The salary will include an uplift of up to £10K if the post holder meets the requirements below:

  • Relevant Vocational Qualification (Level 3)
  • Teaching qualification or willingness to complete
  • Relevant industry experience

And an additional £5K uplift if you meet the following requirements:

  • Hold a JIB ECS Card with a grade at approved Site Technician status
  • Additional Qualifications in Electrical Installation e.g. 2382 (18th Edition) Assessors Award D32/33 or TAQA equivalent.

The closing date for the return of completed applications is 4th January 2026.
