Your impact
Are you an experienced Stress Analysis Engineer with experience of working on aircraft structures? Do you want to lead teams and develop our engineers of the future? Working as a Lead Structural Analysis Engineer at our Yeovil site, within our Helicopter Division, you will have the pride of seeing your structural designs on our product ranges, grow from a 3D concept through to installation and flight and you will play a part in the continued growth in our capability for the future.
As part of the Structures Team, you will be responsible for developing structural design solutions in collaboration with other engineering departments and key stakeholders, for our wide product range encompassing conventional helicopters, tilt rotors and unmanned air systems. Our analysis team supports both the UK and Italian geographies so although based in the UK there is the opportunity to work on our full product range.
This role requires a minimum of three days per week on site, with some flexibility for hybrid working.
What you will do as Lead Structural Analyst
- Responsible for coordination, creation and delivery of varied and challenging static and dynamic analysis & test activities including airworthiness compliance documentation, concurrently engineered with the collaboration of Design/Analysis/Certification & Qualification/Manufacturing.
- Utilizing your analysis skills to create, innovate and mentor whilst leading teams of Structural engineers in order to achieve delivery of fit for purpose design solutions.
What you’ll bring
To perform the role you will work well in a team and be flexible and adaptable. Able to lead teams of engineers and provide mentoring to develop others, you will have:
- The ability to plan and execute tasks to achieve timescales and costs.
- The ability to own problems and provide pragmatic solutions to challenging timescales and budgets.
- Experience in the analysis of complex engineering structures.
- Expert knowledge in conventional (hand calculation) and numerical (finite element) techniques for static analysis.
- A working knowledge of fatigue and damage tolerance.
- Knowledge of composite materials and analysis principles.
Advantageous in this role are:
- Knowledge of non-linear dynamic solutions such as crash modelling and impact.
- Evidence of working in a regulated environment with knowledge of airworthiness regulations e.g. MAA, EASA or FAA.
- CS27 / CS29 experience.
Also desirable would be knowledge of:
- MSC NASTRAN.
- Altair HyperMesh.
- MathCAD.
- The ability to use the MS Office suite.

This role is subject to pre-employment screening in line with the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). An additional range of Personnel Security Controls referred to as National Security Vetting (NSV) may apply, this could include meeting the eligibility requirements for The Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV).
