Own responsibility for new business development and relationship management with key 3rd party relationships including wealth managers, banks, DFMs and other wholesale clients.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Works with the rest of the wholesale team to develop new relationships, maintain, deepen and broaden existing relationships with larger and more established wealth management firms, retail and private banks, asset managers and other wholesale clients.
- Responsible for a panel of clients including some of Vanguard's largest UK client relationships.
- Achieves Net new Cash Flow, AUM and retention targets within the spirit of Vanguard's Code of Ethics. Index ETFs, Index mutual funds, active mutual funds and ETFs product knowledge will be essential.
- Develops and maintains a high level of expertise related to industry & marketplace development. Utilises this knowledge to become a trusted partner to key Wholesale clients.
- Understands the Wealth Manager landscape and produces targeted, segmented prospect lists; prioritises sales activities by value and assists Sales Executive colleagues to focus on the priority targets where appropriate.
- Develops and builds relationships with Wealth managers, banks and Discretionary Adviser Groups through face-to-face contact, workshops, conference participation and other industry events.
- Thoroughly understands the philosophy and dynamics of the wholesale marketplace (investment philosophy, client base, product preference, etc.). Acts as a trusted adviser/consultant in matching needs with Vanguard products and services.
- Educates clients on the benefits of Vanguard and our product offerings. Shows sound understanding of individual clients and tailors Account Management approach accordingly.
- Identifies key influencers within specified market/territory & leverages these resources to build Vanguard awareness.
- Raises awareness of Vanguard investment products & related services and delivers key Vanguard messages through targeted prospecting activities with the target segment.
- Informs the Vanguard product development approach through insight of the requirements of this client segment.
- Maintains conversation with a wide audience on a systematic basis; sets & delivers clear, ongoing communication plan with key Wealth managers and Discretionary clients to build the Vanguard brand.
- Delivers thought leadership presentations at industry/adviser events/speaking opportunities.
- Serves as a coach and role model to more junior team members.
- Employs world-class account management best practices, including key account plans which are shared with senior management.
- Gathers and shares competitor and client intelligence with other divisions (e.g. Marketing and PRD) to improve Vanguard proposition.
- Serves as the subject matter expert for Wholesale within Vanguard; acts as the face of Wholesale when participating in broader internal projects and as an ambassador for Vanguard.
- Participates in other projects and performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Minimum Diploma in Financial Planning (Dip PFS) or Investment Management Certificate (IMC).
- Minimum five years relevant financial services industry experience within the Wealth Manager market segment.
- Superior oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated executive presence, poise, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and adapt quickly and resourcefully to changing situations.
- Excellent relationship management skills.
- Thorough knowledge of investments and competitive environment.
