Job Description

As a Software Developer, you will build and enhance the core infrastructure and services powering a global data ecosystem.

Operating within Platform Engineering, the Data Platform team provides real‑time streaming, cloud‑based databases, release management, distributed key‑value storage and bespoke technical solutions.

These platforms enable developers to access, process and manage information in real‑time and at immense scale.

Focusing on real‑time stream processing, cloud infrastructure management, system integration and release automation, you will develop, enhance and support an expanding, business‑critical platform.

This involves contributing to the management of a comprehensive suite of services, tools and platforms, utilising technologies such as Golang, Kafka, Flink, GCP, Spanner and Big Query.

This role is eligible for inclusion in the Company's hybrid work from home policy.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Golang and/or Python.
  • Background in using Apache Kafka.
  • Familiarity with high‑volume transactional environments.
  • Track record of developing low‑latency, highly available and scalable solutions.
  • Knowledge of dashboards and good practices around the monitoring stack.
  • Capability to manage multiple projects with independent deadlines and deliverables.
  • Competence in working with Linux.
  • Additional Information
  • Developing applications using Golang, Kafka, Flink, GCP, SQL and other technologies.
  • Supporting applications in their Kafka journey from design through to implementation.
  • Maintaining clean coding practices.
  • Creating automation and developer tooling.
  • Identifying technical areas for improvement.
  • Contributing to streaming and storage solutions independently and alongside the wider development function.
  • Assisting the testing team during the testing phases of projects.
  • Conducting functional and performance testing while undertaking quality assurance of code to ensure accuracy.
