Role overview: As a Data Business Partner (Shared Services) at Tes, you will help our organisation unleash the value from our data assets. You’ll be embedded within the business unit that you support, and work closely with our wider data team in order to ensure that our data products solve real business needs in a secure, efficient and scalable way.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Business Partnership: You’ll partner with Shared Services business units, particularly Finance, Ops, & Transformation, and collaboratively work towards their objectives and goals.
  • Commercial Focus: You have deep understanding of effort vs impact, and use this to prioritise appropriately.
  • Data Strategy, Culture and Literacy: You’ll guide those around you in the use of data and the technology at Tes.
  • Analysis & Story-Telling: You’ll be an experienced operator in analysis and drawing insights, and you’ll use your story-telling ability to drive data-driven actions.

What will you need to succeed?

Essential Skills:

  • An ability to challenge the status quo, and a self-starter in doing so.
  • Extensive stakeholder management experience, you’ll be a strategic advisor and will lean on your communication and influencing skills to ensure data is at the heart of our decision making processes.
  • Domain expertise – you’ve worked with SaaS subscription data, and Finance and change teams before. You’ll be as familiar with ARR and retention rates as you are with supporting change.
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering or shaping successful data products.
  • Agile best practice, and an MVP mindset.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Good written and verbal skills, able to translate concepts into easily understood diagrams and visuals for both technical and non-technical people alike.

Desirable Skills:

  • SQL (experience of dbt particularly).
  • Dashboard and BI design (Looker especially).
  • Ecommerce experience.
  • B2B SaaS / subscription experience.
