Your Impact
We are seeking an experienced Program Manager to deliver engineering design solutions for core components of the RATs product line offering. The scope of this role covers the full DDDQ lifecycle of Software, Firmware and Hardware design solutions within projects across all five sectors of the Radar and Advanced Targeting Line of Business. Reporting to the VP Engineering, you will lead multi‑disciplinary teams and interface with supporting functions to deliver the performance, time and cost requirements of internal stakeholder IPTs. You will lead the CDT Leadership Team, covering the AESA, Power, Processing and Receiver teams, with a key role in the team’s continuous improvement and employee satisfaction, which will challenge and evolve your personal leadership skills.
What you will do as a Program Manager:
- Engage with internal stakeholders to define CDT contribution in support of Integrated Business Planning (IBP) forecasts.
- Participate in the Tender Vet process to establish cost budgets and schedule baselines for the items to be allocated to the CDT for delivery.
- Generate, monitor and control CDT delivery project milestones and performance metrics.
- Capture and manage risks and opportunities impacting performance, time or cost requirements.
- Work closely with IPT leadership in the implementation of the risk management process.
- Capture and resolve issues impacting performance, time or cost requirements.
- Project performance reporting into stakeholder IPTs monthly, including LoB PPRs.
- Product cost reporting into Product Cost Review Board (PCRB) forums quarterly.
- Participation in LCM Phase and Maturity reviews (as appropriate).
- Adherence to business processes, security and governance requirements.
- Technical support to sub‑contracts and CDT interface with manufacturing, procurement and commercial functions.
- Foster, rationalise and drive commonality/reuse and modularity taking various IPR considerations into account.
- Provide general leadership direction and co‑ordination of the sub‑CDTs covering both business winning and business execution lifecycle phases.
- Liaise with Extended Engineering Enterprise in the provision of additional resource solutions to meet the CDT delivery needs as required (e.g. Firmware).
- Create a climate within the CDT in which innovative ideas and solutions can be created in response to IPT and LoB/Business problems.
- Arbitrate on internal managerial issues and ensure appropriate load balancing of teams.
- Liaise with IPT Project/Programme managers and Sector VPs.
What you’ll bring:
- Ability to lead, communicate effectively and build good working relationships throughout the team, supporting functions, sector IPTs and other internal stakeholders.
- Results‑focused attitude with attention to detail on the enablers and blockers influential to project success.
- Self‑motivation to deliver on commitments, get things done and to influence others.
- You shall ideally be degree‑qualified in an engineering or business‑related discipline supported by an Association for Project Management (APM) professional qualification or equivalent.
- You shall have proven experience of programme management roles ideally in the Leonardo or Defence equipment environment.
- Experience of SAP project and production systems, ideally able to update and interrogate underlying SAP data.
- Knowledge of Primavera P6 project management tool and supporting SAP integration infrastructure.
- Experience of project estimating, planning and budget control, ideally in line with Leonardo company practices.
- Experience of financial monitoring and reporting, ideally in line with Leonardo company practices.
- Experience of managing multi‑disciplinary teams and influencing support functions.
- Competence in the use of the standard suite of office tools, i.e. MS Office applications, in particular, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
