Following internal promotion, our International Casualty team have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Underwriter focusing on US Casualty business. You will play a key role in maintaining momentum within a well‑established and growing book, providing confidence and reassurance to brokers while contributing to the profitable development of our US Casualty offering.
Working closely with senior underwriting leadership, this is a highly visible role with genuine scope to shape underwriting outcomes, deepen broker relationships, and further develop your market profile within a collaborative, underwriting‑led environment.
Your New Role
- Underwrite US Casualty risks in line with the business plan, underwriting strategy, and personal authority levels.
- Manage and develop strong broker and client relationships, acting as a trusted and credible market presence.
- Contribute to the profitable growth and ongoing performance of the US Casualty portfolio.
- Support and mentor junior members of the underwriting team, sharing technical expertise and market insight.
- Ensure adherence to underwriting standards, controls, and all legal and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain market and cycle awareness to drive informed underwriting decisions.
- Actively contribute to the development of underwriting strategy, best practice, and knowledge sharing across the team.
- Represent QBE positively in the market, promoting the International Casualty brand and value proposition.
About You
- Proven experience underwriting US Casualty business, gained within International or London Market context.
- Clear technical underwriting capability with sound judgement and commercial acumen.
- Experience operating with autonomy while collaborating effectively within a wider underwriting team.
- Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.
- A proactive and collegiate mindset, with a willingness to support team development and knowledge sharing.
- Having the right to work in the UK is a requirement for this role. QBE may consider sponsorship at its discretion.
