Working in the Cloud Platforms and SRE Chapter, this role will be setting the technical direction for the Cloud Platform teams across our Developer Experience and SRE squads. You will work with the squads to ensure they are optimising for reducing friction in the engineering workflow and improving the reliability of products our engineering squads build.
Key Responsibilities- Leadership: You will be a transformational leader, who exerts influence over multiple squads, increasing their effectiveness by sharing expert knowledge and experience. A critical thinker able to coach and mentor other specialists with a passion for continuous improvement towards engineering excellence.
- Delivery: Drives significant technology initiatives end-to-end to ensure customer outcomes are met. Collaborates with architects and acts as Product Owner to craft roadmaps and steer the long‑range goals.
- Engineering Excellence: Drives design and implementation of robust and durable software solutions which solve business‑critical problems in a fast‑paced environment, embedding engineering best practice in collaboration with all Principal Engineers.
- Collaboration: Fosters a collaborative environment and offers mentorship on effective communication within the engineering team.
- Relationship Management: Builds cohesive and positive relationships with stakeholders within and beyond engineering.
- Self‑Management: Role models how to successfully manage skills and personal development, and promotes a culture of continuous learning.
- Innovation: Drives a culture of responsible innovation and experimentation, providing perspectives on leading industry tools and trends and recommendations on new and emerging technologies.
- High technical skills and understanding of the engineering practices that will allow you to come up with solutions for engineers that solve their day‑to‑day workflow problems.
- Excellent understanding of SRE and Developer Experience practices and the ability to apply them in an organisation to improve the reliability and engineering workflow posture.
- Understanding of infrastructure as code and the ability to take part in code reviews.
- Ability to lead the creation of robust, functional solutions and high‑quality code, partnering with numerous stakeholders.
- Ability to lead, encourage and empower engineers to consistently deliver value.
