AXA XL Global Technology (GT) division is undergoing transformation. In London, UK, the Cloud FinOps Lead will manage cloud cost optimisation strategies, resource allocation and financial planning to ensure efficient and cost‑effective business processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team to enhance FinOps practices across AXA XL.
- Develop and implement FinOps frameworks, policies and best practices.
- Collaborate with cloud engineers, DevOps, finance and procurement teams.
- Create financial dashboards, provide insights and forecasts to senior stakeholders.
- Manage Azure cloud service budgets and participate in CSP negotiations via Procurement.
- Conduct regular FinOps maturity assessments to drive continuous improvement.
- Report on accuracy, policy compliance and lead initiatives to enhance cloud financial management.
- Build and implement data‑driven reporting for cost‑saving opportunities and utilisation tracking.
- Provide timely, transparent and accurate cloud consumption costing information and recommendations for optimisation.
- Outline, communicate and foster R&R ownership and governance across teams to optimise synergies.
- Assist in building the FinOps community within application teams.
- Maintain the AXA XL Cloud business case for the migration period (2023‑2026) and ensure run‑rate savings, including:
- Periodic refresh of the business case to reflect actuals.
- Maintaining average cost profiles of applications migrating to cloud.
- Assisting with the yearly budget process to align with forecasts.
- Actively participate in AXA Group’s FinOps community and produce quarterly group reporting.
- Understand cloud provider pricing models to recommend cost savings.
- Work with technical teams to drive optimisations such as right‑sizing.
- Calculate cloud costs, set budgets for applications, and monitor actual spend against budgets.
- Manage project recharge processes and raise alerts if spend exceeds agreed budgets.
- Reconcile monthly invoicing to CSP usage, ensure service credits are applied and track committed spend.
- Implement budget and alert framework for threshold spikes or anomalies.
Qualifications & Experience
- Certified FinOps professional (preferably with finance background and experience, e.g., FinOps Certified Practitioner).
- Proven ability to conduct sophisticated data analysis and translate results into actionable deliverables and presentations to technical teams, finance teams and senior management.
- Effective financial, analytical and Cloud Service Consumption Modelling skills in a large‑scale IT environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and leadership skills with a track record of presenting to senior management.
- Excellent cross‑department and cross‑group collaboration skills.
- Good understanding of cloud computing technologies; AZ900 Azure Fundamentals beneficial.
- Deep experience with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Power BI and Excel.
