About the Role
As a Client Partner, you will grow a portfolio of strategic accounts within Public Safety & Defence, focussing on the Home Office. You will develop a deep understanding of client challenges, build relationships, and lead the creation and execution of strategic account plans. You will work with multidisciplinary account teams, support client growth, and meet a multi‑million‑pound annual sales target ranging from £5M to £20M.
You will identify sales opportunities, network, gain referrals, capture opportunities, and hold a personal sales target. You will manage account profitability, negotiate contractual terms and rate cards, and work with marketing to build awareness within your accounts.
Key Responsibilities
- Expert in your client’s business: research strategy, goals, challenges; understand public sector processes; be an expert in GDS ways of working; meet stakeholders; understand decision makers; attend governance meetings; understand competitors; build relationships with commercial and portfolio holders.
- Expert in Made Tech capabilities & services: know USPs; understand delivery; understand what good delivery looks like; know missions, values; apply capabilities; liaise with delivery teams; read Made Tech books; discuss 5‑8 relevant case studies; stay current with projects; share content.
- Trusted advisor: exhibit empathy; consult to root causes; be a problem solver; learn and develop; listen, be transparent, build trust; be responsive; understand constraints; summarise facts and actions.
- Leading account teams: develop account strategy; set and review goals; set clear roles; motivate, build relationships, act on issues; support delivery teams; adopt the role of CEO of the account (outward facing, market insight, competition, senior team motivation, strategic plan, execution); coach team members; deliver high‑standard client service.
- Outreach and networking: use varied channels (client referrals, partners, MT SLT, events, blogs, LinkedIn, etc.); build relationships; prioritise senior stakeholders; commit outreach time; bring clients together.
- Sales leadership: understand commercial, finance, P&L; own revenue goals; maximise margin; optimise rates; negotiate contracts; collaborate with client commercial teams; create win‑win opportunities; track industry data; plan and execute win strategy; provide feedback; understand proposal quality; support proposal teams.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Strong track record developing growth in strategic accounts, up‑selling, cross‑selling, and building long‑lasting relationships.
- Excellent knowledge of digital service concepts and market positioning versus competitors.
- Expertise in consulting, building strategic account plans, and managing teams; capable of leading pursuit teams.
- Track record winning multi‑million‑pound contracts and meeting quarterly and annual targets.
- Appreciation and knowledge of technology delivery, agile, and public sector trends and policies.
- Ability to operate in a competitive, pressurised environment without compromising client or company integrity.
- Communication, presentation and influence skills at all organisational levels, including executive and C‑level.
- Expert networking skills; ability to build relationships with senior stakeholders.
- Home Office experience and networks beneficial but not essential.
