Are you an Android Engineer who takes pride in the success of the applications you work on? Do you enjoy seeing your apps featured with fantastic ratings on the Google Play Store, but strive to keep pushing for more? We are looking for a mid-level Android Engineer to join our Customer Experience team who can help further the success of our Android app. The app has more than 5M active users worldwide, an average app store review of 4.8 stars, and has over 99.9% crash-free sessions. Kotlin is upwards of 95% and we’re hoping to remove Java completely soon.

  • The codebase uses modern Android Jetpack components, Kotlin Coroutines, Flow/StateFlow, and RxJava in legacy areas
  • Make an impact on millions of customers

  • We have done some significant work to modularise the app and are continuing to follow best coding practices.
  • Working with Hilt dependency injection
  • Extensive UI and unit testing suites

What you’ll be doing:

  • Deliver top quality projects made using best practices and guidelines within cross-functional teams
  • Work with our design team to implement clean design that respects the platform
  • Work in an agile team, taking responsibility, alongside your colleagues, for the engineering team deliverables
  • Take a proactive and hands-on approach in all features and tasks

Who we’d like to meet:

  • You are a passionate mid-level Android developer
  • You are extremely comfortable with Kotlin
  • You know reactive programming techniques
  • You can contribute to discussions on technical architecture and design
  • You believe that all code is legacy code if it isn't unit/UI tested
  • You love agile/scrum and can work as part of a smaller cross-functional & feature focused team
  • You can take ownership of big pieces of work, from the planning phase right through to execution and delivery
  • You contribute to the wider Android community, through things like blog posts, open-source projects or giving talks
