Reporting to the IT Infrastructure Manager, an IT Infrastructure Specialist is responsible for the provision of technical support, deployment and design for our business critical IT Infrastructure. This is a key role in an IT Infrastructure Team that manages our on-premise private cloud and server estate and public cloud platforms.

  • Delivery of 2nd/3rd line operational support for IT services
  • Technical resource and, where required, technical lead for projects and BAU activities ensuring delivery within agreed scope and timeframe
  • Working with Incident Management Teams to restore service quickly and efficiently and, where required, Problem and Change Management Teams to complete any follow up actions
  • Supporting Business Application and Change and Delivery Teams on a pipeline of maintenance and enhancement activities
  • Supporting Service Delivery Managers with IT Infrastructure Changes by providing technical expertise at CAB Meetings and, where required, the technical resources to implement changes
  • Working with IT Infrastructure Architects and 3rd party specialists on the design of new solutions
  • Planning and executing changes in accordance with policies and processes
  • Documenting procedures, processes and high and low level designs
  • Researching current and emerging technologies

Role specific requirements:

  • Managing a Windows Infrastructure, including Active Directory, DHCP, DNS (Essential)
  • Managing an Azure public cloud environment (Desirable)
  • Implementing IT security Best Practices (Essential)
  • Managing a VMWare vSphere/ESX environment (Essential)
  • Networking, including Layer 2/3 switching, firewalls and Wireless networks (Desirable)
  • Enterprise Database (SQL Server, Azure SQL Database) (Desirable)
  • Microsoft 365 tenant, including Azure AD (Desirable)
  • Scripting and automation, including Powershell and vbscript (Desirable)
