The predicted salary is between 50000 - 60000 £ per year.

Due to the sensitive nature of this role, you may be required to undergo DV (Developed Vetting) level Security Clearance. An allowance of £5k per annum may be payable monthly while you hold this DV and continue to work in a role that requires that level of security clearance. The terms of this allowance will be made available if you are successful in being recruited into this role.

About the role

We are looking for a security focused Software Engineer to support and develop critical, large-scale on-premises and cloud applications within our Technology Services, Tools and Applications capability area. We are seeking a skilled developer with experience of modern JavaScript frameworks, delivering high quality front-end solutions using principally ReactJS/TypeScript/Vue.js. You’ll work with Git/GitLab for source-code management and contribute to building resilient, scalable applications deployed through containerisation technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes. The role involves designing, defining, and consuming APIs, along with writing automation and tooling through scripting environments such as PowerShell, Bash, and Python. Experience operating within cloud environments is preferable, as is proficiency in database development and interaction using MySQL and SQL Server based systems. This job role can be based in Ipswich, London or Manchester. Due to security requirements, this role requires you to be located on site during your working hours. Mon-Fri 37.5. DV Security Clearance is required. Must have lived in UK for 10+ years to obtain clearance.

What you’ll be doing

  • Supporting the implementation of technical solutions for customers and colleagues, working within cross-functional squads to assist in creating and implementing technical solutions for a domain or cross domain activity within a specific technology area.
  • Supporting the execution of technical decisions, technology choices and architecture for a wide range of high-performance products, capabilities, and platforms effectively balancing short-term impact with long term transformation.
  • Designing and developing software solutions aligned to BT architecture and security standards.
  • Undertake technical reviews to maintain proficiency in software engineering principles and practices.
  • Supporting the designs of technical specifications and development of software solutions of smaller and/or less complex initiatives in partnership with team, contributing towards the quality of delivery.
