IMG Fixed Income Service Specialist

Investment Management Group (IMG) Fixed Income Service Team is evolving, and this role provides front‑line operational support to the Fixed Income Investment Group across both Active and Index strategies, and supports Investment Data Management.

This role joins seven other specialists in providing critical daily operational support to Fixed Income Portfolio Managers, managing Investment Index Data and maintaining the FI Investment Book of Records (IBOR): start‑of‑day and end‑of‑day checks, liquidity, cashflows, monitoring trading activity, managing counterparties and delivering overall insights to the Investments Team.

Core Responsibilities

• Build strong in‑person relationships with Portfolio Managers and Trading Team.
• Develop a deep understanding of the end‑to‑end fixed‑income investment process, including front‑to‑back lifecycle.
• Respond promptly to investment‑process queries and concerns with valuable insights.
• Engage wider EIS (Middle and Back Office) teams to collate required information or actions, especially with the Settlements Team to minimise failed trades.
• Monitor portfolio movements and provide value‑adding insights to the Desk (liquidity, duration, trading activity).
• Support the management of Investment and Index Data to ensure accurate and timely representation.
• Monitor market/world events and assess how they may impact the Investment process and the EIS working day, discussing with colleagues.
• Collaborate with Investment Risk and Operational Risk Teams to enhance controls and the control environment.
• Identify, recommend and drive process improvements (automation, new coding, technological suggestions and collaborations).
• Familiarise with the Vanguard Management System to support continuous improvement (time management, effective communication, root‑cause analysis of incidents, continuous learning).
• Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years of related work experience within Fixed Income Fund Operations or an Investment‑team‑facing role.
• Undergraduate degree or equivalent combined training and experience; Accounting, Finance degree or CFA preferred.
• Firm knowledge of fixed‑income markets, derivatives and trading strategies.
• Experience in Aladdin and fixed‑income investments preferred.
• Practical experience in an operations environment, including detecting and responding to operational incidents, project management, and stakeholder escalation.
• Strong understanding of the investment lifecycle.
• Requirement to be in the office five days per week.
