The role: At DXC, one of our platinum accounts has openings for an IT Service Designer. The successful candidate will work within multiple teams and will be enthusiastic and reliable with a positive service‑orientated attitude. Your role will include designing, shaping and evolving end‑to‑end services across both an on‑premise hosting environment and an AWS private cloud platform and the services that will serve to integrate both environments. The role ensures that our services are fit for purpose, resilient, secure, cost‑effective and supportable, aligning with business outcomes and our customers’ strategic transition towards cloud‑based services and requirement for cloud orchestration and service brokerage models.
Working within a blended Agile and ITIL framework, the Service Designer collaborates closely with DXC and customer product teams, operations, architecture, security and suppliers to ensure that services are designed with operability, supportability, performance, security, compliance and user experience at their core.

- Contribute to the development of standardised repeatable cloud service offerings (e.g. compute, storage, networking, platform services).
- Work closely with cloud engineering and architecture teams to ensure designs align with cloud standards, patterns and governance.
- Support the organisation’s move towards a cloud orchestration model, enabling self‑service and automated service provisioning.
- Service Transition
- Ensure that operational requirements (availability, capacity, continuity, security, monitoring, support and recovery) are built into services from the outset.
- Collaborate with Service Operations to ensure smooth service transitions and effective handover to live support teams.
- Define support models, SLAs, OLAs, runbooks and escalation paths.
- Participate in service acceptance and readiness reviews.
- Governance, Risk and Compliance
- Ensure services comply with organisational policies, security standards and regulatory requirements.
- Embed risk management, resilience and security‑by‑design principles into service designs.
- Support cost transparency and financial management by helping to develop cost models and chargeback/show‑back solutions.
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as a bridge between business stakeholders, product teams, engineers, operations, suppliers and vendors.
- Translate business/service requirements into consumable, supportable service designs.
- Provide service design expertise to Agile delivery teams and participate as a team member in ceremonies as required.
- Continuous Improvement
- Review live services to identify opportunities for optimisation, standardisation and automation.
