What is the role responsible for? We’re looking for a Cyber Security Analyst – Tier 1 to join our Security Operations Centre (SOC) team. You’ll monitor and respond to cybersecurity incidents, analyse threats, and contribute to strengthening the security posture of our customers. If you have a strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, networking, and threat detection, and you thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, this role is an excellent opportunity to grow your career in cyber security.
What will you be doing day-to-day?
- Use SIEM tools to monitor and analyse security alerts, conduct initial triage, and investigate security breaches.
- Handle and advance security incidents effectively, ensuring swift resolution and minimal impact.
- Address security-related queries, elevate critical issues, and provide expert guidance to customers.
- Maintain clear records of incidents, actions taken, and resolutions, following company protocols.
- Assist in tuning security measures, developing use cases, and improving detection capabilities.
- Work closely with internal teams and external customers to enhance security protocols and response strategies.
- Stay up to date with emerging cyber threats, new attack techniques, and industry best practices.
- Work with key stakeholders to ensure security requirements are understood and properly implemented.
What you’ll bring
- Experience in cybersecurity principles, attack detection, incident response, and security frameworks.
- Understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, VPNs, firewalls, and threat intelligence models.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
- Demonstrable experience in conveying complex security concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Knowledge of cloud security principles and hybrid cloud environments.
- A proactive approach to staying updated on industry trends, new threats, and best practices.
- Previous experience in a SOC or cybersecurity support role.
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CEH, or similar.
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance standards like GDPR, ISO 27001, and PCI DSS.
- Hands-on experience with SIEM technologies such as QRadar, Azure Sentinel, or Elastic SIEM.
- Understanding of endpoint security, IAM, and data protection best practices.
- Knowledge of both Microsoft Windows and Linux-based operating systems.
Due to the sensitivity of the role, you will also need to go through and pass security clearance.

A few things to note:
- Shift Pattern: 24/7/365 rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and bank holidays (5 days on, 3 days off; 5 days on, 3 days off; 5 days on, 4 days off)
- Location: Must be within a reasonable commuting distance to our Glasgow office as we will expect you to work hybrid (3-days)
- Travel: Occasional travel for industry events and other company offices
